You can request public IP addresses to assign to workload VMs to allow access to these VMs from the internet. VMware Cloud on AWS will provision the IP address from AWS.
Before you create a public IP address, you should assign your VM a static IP address from its logical network.
- Log in to the VMC Console at https://vmc.vmware.com.
- Click View Details on the SDDC card.
- Click Network.
- Under Compute Gateway, click Public IPs.
- Click Request Public IP.
- Enter any notes that you want to make about the IP address.
- Click Save.
After a few moments, the Public IP address is provisioned.
What to do next
After the Public IP address is provisioned, you must configure NAT to direct traffic from the public IP address to the internal IP address of a VM in your SDDC. See Configure NAT Settings.
