Some of application configurations (especially these providing high availability) might require special storage configuration on-premises - examples could be Windows Server Failover Cluster (physical mode Raw Device Mapped p(RDM) disks on-premises) or Oracle Real Application Cluster (multi-writer flag on a VMDK on-premises).

Most of such configurations are supported on VMware Cloud on AWS, but will require disk configuration changes (for example, using clustered VMDKs isntead of pRDMs) and caution while migrating VMs. Consult application specific guides mentioned in the first section of this document for more details.
