In the Hosts section of the Order VMware Cloud on Dell EMC SDDC form, you can identify the host type and specify the number of hosts required for your SDDC.
Procedure
- Log in to the VMware Cloud Services Console at https://console.cloud.vmware.com/csp/gateway/discovery.
- Launch the VMware Cloud on Dell EMC service.
- Expand your SDDC and click Continue Order.
The SDDC order form opens at the section where you last left.
- Specify the host type and provide the following information: select the number of hosts required from the drop-down menu.
- CPU cores/host: Select the number of CPU cores required.
By default, the host you select comprises the maximum CPU cores that the hardware supports. However, you can lower the CPU cores by twice the number of sockets in the host. For example, if the host contains 2 sockets, you can lower the CPU cores by 4 and if the host contains 3 sockets, you can lower the CPU cores by 6 and so on. This ensures that the number of cores distributed on each socket remains even. You must retain a minimum of 24 cores per host. This configuration applies to all the hosts in your SDDC. You cannot change the CPU cores for any hosts in your SDDC after you place the order.
- Quantity: Select the number of hosts. You must select at least 3 hosts.
- (Optional) click VIEW DETAIL to view the rack specifications and click HOW WE CALCULATE RACKS NEEDED to understand the number of racks and hosts your SDDC accommodates.
The following step is applicable only if your SDDC has more than one rack.
- Confirm that following by selecting the respective check boxes:
- You are responsible for providing the inter-rack cables
- Your racks will be positioned within a range of 150 meters from each other
- Click Save and Continue.
