The Citrix Delivery Controller is the server-side component, which you can use for managing user access, brokering, and optimizing connections. You can also use these controllers to crate desktops and server images.
A site must have at least one Controller. After you install the Controller for the first time, you can add multiple Controllers when you create a site or later. The following are the benefits of having more than one Controller in a site:
- Redundancy: The recommendation is that in a production site you must have at least two Controllers on different physical servers. If one Controller fails, the others can manage the connections and administer the site.
- Scalability: As the site activity increases, the CPU utilization on the Controller and database activity also increases. Additional Controllers allows you to manage multiple users, multiple applications, and multiple desktop requests and improve the overall responsiveness.
Each Controller communicates directly with the site database. In a site with more than one zone, the Controllers in every zone communicate with the site database in the primary zone.
Prerequisites
- Create a virtual machine and install the Windows Server operating system.
- Ensure that the virtual machine is on sddc-cgw-citrix-mgmt network with a static IP and domain assigned to the network.
