VMware releases certified VMware Data Services Manager database templates and software updates to Tanzu Network. As a DSM administrator, you must configure the Tanzu Network Refresh Token and the Provider Repo for VMware Data Services Manager to automatically access this software.

The Refresh Token is a Tanzu Network UAA API TOKEN that you generate from a Tanzu Network account.

You can also choose to remove a Tanzu Net Token that you have previously set. This action stops VMware Data Services Manager from pulling new database templates and software updates.

Note: If you have deployed VMware Data Services Manager in an air-gapped environment (an environment with no internet connectivity), refer to Manually Populating Database Templates and Updates for the information necessary to manually populate these objects.

Adding or Updating the Tanzu Net Token

Prerequisites

Before you configure the Tanzu Network Token for your VMware Data Services Manager installation, you must:

  • Create a new account, or access an existing account on Tanzu Network.
  • Open the Edit Profile screen and REQUEST NEW REFRESH TOKEN.
  • Save a copy of the returned Tanzu Network UAA API TOKEN.
  • Navigate to the VMware Data Services Manager product page on Tanzu Network, and view and accept the license.

Procedure

Perform the following procedure to configure your Tanzu Network Refresh Token:

  1. Select Settings from the left navigation pane.

This action displays the Settings view.

  2. In the Information tab, locate the Tanzu Net Token section, click on the Actions drop-down, and then select Add or Update from the pop-up menu.

The Add Refresh Token or Update Refresh Token dialog displays.

  3. In the Add Refresh Token or Update Refresh Token dialog, enter your Tanzu Network Refresh Token.

  4. Click SAVE or UPDATE.

Note: If you have already configured the **Provider Repo** storage setting, VMware Data Services Manager will begin to download new database templates and software updates. The time that this takes to complete is dependent upon the number of objects and the network latency between the Provider VM and Tanzu Network.
  5. VMware Data Services Manager obscures the token value in the Tanzu Net Token pane.

Removing the Tanzu Net Token

Perform the following procedure to remove a Tanzu Network Refresh Token that you previously configured:

  1. Select Settings from the left navigation pane.

This action displays the Settings view.

  2. In the Information tab, locate the Tanzu Net Token section, click on the Actions drop-down, and then select Remove from the pop-up menu.

The Remove Refresh Token dialog displays.

  3. If you are absolutely certain that you want to remove the token, click CONFIRM.

Note: VMware Data Services Manager no longer pulls database templates and software updates from Tanzu Network.
