You can change the password on your Local VMware Data Services Manager account in multiple ways:

  1. Click the Forgot Password link on the VMware Data Services Manager login screen to initiate password reset via email. The link that you receive is active for 20 minutes; click it and reset your password.
  2. Ask the vSphere administrator or DSM administrator to reset your password. The new password that you receive is temporary; you are required to change the password the first time that you log in to the VMware Data Services Manager using those credentials.
  3. Change your password while logged in to the VMware Data Services Manager console by following the procedure below.

If you are an LDAP user, ask the LDAP administrator to reset your password.

Prerequisites

Ensure that the password that you set meets the password policy rules of VMware Data Services Manager. The password must contain:

  • Minimum 8, maximum 20 characters,
  • At least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter,
  • At least one number, and
  • At least one special character (?!@#$%^&*).

Procedure

Perform the following procedure to change your password:

  1. Log in to the VMware Data Services Manager console.

  2. Locate the person icon in the top right corner of the window, click the icon, and select Change Password.

    This action displays the Change Password form.

  3. Enter your Current Password, and enter the new password in both the New Password and Confirm Password fields. Ensure that the new password meets the VMware Data Services Manager password policy rules described in the Prerequisites.

  4. Click CHANGE PASSWORD.

    Your VMware Data Services Manager console password is changed to the value that you specified.

  5. Re-log in to the VMware Data Services Manager console.
