There can be requirement to change the IP address or certificate of the DSM plugin VM. In such cases, you need to unregister and then re-register the VMware Data Services Manager plugin.

Also, there can be a situation where the VMware Data Services Manager plugin is removed from vSphere due to some reason. In such cases, you can re-register the VMware Data Services Manager plugin.

Note: DSM UI, DSM appliance, and service accounts are not affected when the DSM plugin becomes non-functional due to one of the above reasons.

Change in DSM Plugin VM IP Address or Certificate

If there is a change in the IP address or certificate of the VMware Data Services Manager plugin VM, use the following steps to unregister and re-register the VMware Data Services Manager plugin:

  1. SSH into the DSM plugin VM.

  2. Run the following commands to unregister the VMware Data Services Manager plugin:

    sh /opt/vmware/tdm-provider/plugin/plugin_utility.sh unregisterPlugin
    
  3. Run the following commands to re-register the VMware Data Services Manager plugin:

    sh /opt/vmware/tdm-provider/plugin/plugin_utility.sh registerPlugin
    

DSM Plugin Removed from vCenter

If the VMware Data Services Manager plugin gets removed from vSphere due to some reason, use the following steps to re-register the VMware Data Services Manager plugin:

  1. SSH into the DSM Plugin VM.

  2. Run the following commands to re-register the VMware Data Services Manager plugin:

    sh /opt/vmware/tdm-provider/plugin/plugin_utility.sh registerPlugin
