After you create a database in VMware Data Services Manager, you can change its replication policy, including the replica mode and topology.

Note: VMware Data Services Manager does not support scaling down the number of nodes.

Procedure

  1. Select Databases from the left navigation pane.
This action displays the Databases view, a table that lists the provisioned database VMs.
  2. Examine the databases listed in the table, and navigate to the database to update.
  3. Click the database Instance Name.
The database information Summary tab displays.
  4. Click the EDIT button in the Database Replication section, and set or update the following properties in the Edit Database Replication dialog box, as required.
    Property Name Value
    Replica Mode

Configure the number of nodes to create for this cluster. Select one of the following:

    • Single Server - One node with no replicas. You can use vSphere HA.
    • Single vSphere Cluster - Multiple nodes co-located on a single vSphere cluster providing node resiliency.

A three-node topology (1 replica) is supported for all database engines.

Topology Specify configuration for the database nodes appropriate for the type of database and the replica mode you selected.
  5. Click SAVE to initiate the changes.
  6. Monitor the progress of the task in the database Operations tab.
