The VMware Edge Compute Stack (ECS) allows utilities to securely host applications that directly control critical grid infrastructure, while the use of GPUs on ECS can enable virtual machines and containers to run computer vision on workloads for retail and manufacturing use cases. Manufacturers can also benefit from consolidating different hardware devices and software into a common computing platform and delivering Programmable Logic Control (PLC) functionality in software.
