There are two components required to deliver VECO telemetry capabilities:

  • Backend is a Cloud hosted component that exposes UI portal, creates device and applications inventory, baselines for performance and identifies the root cause of any performance or connectivity issue.

  • Crawler is a VM, running at the edge, that collects data from the edge site environment and sends it to the backend for analysis and correlation. ECS leverages Virtual Crawlers running on every ECS host.

Crawler

Crawler VM is deployed in a 2-Arm configuration. Eth0 interface is a management interface that communicates with Backend SaaS based Portal and uploads collected data. It is also used for communicating with enterprise DNS server(s). Eth1 interface is used as a SPAN port that ingests data from Port Mirroring Session configured in Distributed Virtual Switch (DVS).
