VMware recommends a USB 3.0 drive for the Edge Compute Stack service to achieve best performance, but slower deployments still succeed with older USB drives.
The ESXi basic image and Kubernetes cluster is automatically deployed and run from the USB boot media. The following steps help you create a bootable Edge Compute Stack media from your development machine. This USB drive is used to build your Edge Compute Stack host.
