Creating a Git Repository

The Edge Compute Stack host requires read-only access to a Git repository that stores the single source of truth for the configuration of the infrastructure being deployed to the Edge location.

The Git repository can be setup in any location that is accessible to the host from the network on which it is deployed. For example:

• If the Edge Compute Stack host has access to the internet, the repository could be in github.com.

• If the host is deployed on a private network, it might have access to a private instance of GitLab or another Git hosting server.

Note:

Git repositories can be private or public. VMware recommends using private Git repositories to safely share security keys and other sensitive information for your Edge location.
