From the Wi-Fi driver to CPU utilization, battery health to client SNR, VMware Edge Network Intelligence Client App integrates a complete client performance metrics and statistics into the ENI platform. The VMware Edge Network Intelligence Client App sends the client data directly to the ENI back-end analytics engine and correlates the data with all other infrastructure data within the system. This helps the IT Support Engineers with an end-to-end view of actual client behavior, analyzed and correlated client data from various network services, applications, and WAN data to proactively help in remote diagnostics of end-user problems.
You can access the Client App data in the ENI Back-end Analytics Engine using the following steps:
In the Analytics portal, go to INVENTORY > Clients.
Use the KEYWORD search box to find the registered Clients by MAC address, IP address, username, hostname, and so on.
Access the Client App data by clicking on the selected Client.
Under CLIENT APP area, you can find Device data such as Client Hostname, OS Version, Driver Version, Memory Utilization, CPU Usage, Battery Type, Battery Health, and so on, gathered from the Client App.
Under INCIDENTS area, you can click CLIENT APP INTERNET, CLIENT APP VPN, and CLIENT APP WIFI tabs to identify Client issues tracked and reported by the Client App. The root cause details, most common attributes, incident occurrences data give IT support immediate health and status of client devices to quickly understand what exactly the issue is and troubleshoot the problems at the Client end.
Clicking VIEW EVIDENCE will display relevant Client APP charts based on the performance indicators (SYSTEM-INFO, WIFI-STATUS, and NETWORK-STATUS) activated in the Edit Configuration pop-up window. All data and metrics gathered by the Client App are visually represented as charts and graphs for easy understanding. The Client App charts are available for the following data gathered by the Client App:
Network Data - Performance Score, PING RTT, PING PACKET LOSS, HTTP RESPONSE TIMES
Wi-Fi Data - WI-FI SNR, WI-FI NOISE, WI-FI TX RATE
System Data - CPU UTILIZATION, MEMORY UTILIZATION
In the APPLICATIONS tab, you can find additional Client App charts for specific synthetic tests launched in the Client App. These charts help to compare what the client reports versus what the infrastructure reports.
You can create your custom set of charts that you want by clicking CUSTOM SET > CREATE CUSTOM SET.
In the Name textbox, enter a name for the custom set of charts that you want to create.
Select the performance indicators to create metric charts and click Save Custom Set.
Click the Edit icon if you want to modify the performance indicators in the Custom Set chart.
The following sample screenshot shows sample Custom Set charts created to correlate Corporate and Client Wi-Fi performance. The Custom Set charts helps to quickly compare the user experience for Remote versus On-site users using the same Wi-Fi drivers.
Alternatively, you can also view and access the registered Client App devices in the ENI back-end analytics engine by following the steps below:
