VMware SD-WAN Edges can be added to VMware Edge Network Intelligence to collect user traffic at the branch by configuring them for branch analytics. This process is accomplished through the SD-WAN Orchestrator interface used to configure your SD-WAN Edges. SD-WAN Edges can only be added this way and not directly through the VMware Edge Network Intelligence interface.

To add a SD-WAN Edge you need to be running at least minimum supported version 4.2.0 of VMware SD-WAN (recommended is 4.3.1 version). Follow the instructions on this page to add your edge.

For complete information on how to activate VMware Edge Network Intelligence on SD-WAN Orchestrator, see VMware Edge Network Intelligence Configuration Guide available at https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-SD-WAN/index.html.

Important:

The analytics interface must be configured with an IP address. This IP address will be used to communicate with local network devices to collect data such as WLAN statistics, receive SNMP traps, etc. Make sure this IP address has access to collect data from the network devices.
