Resolved Issues

  • A Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (version 1709), virtual machine might display a black screen after you exit Unity view or multimonitor mode with multiple displays connected

When you have more than one monitor connected to your host, a Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, version 1709, virtual machine might display a black screen in the following situations:

    • Enter then exit Unity view.

This issue is resolved with VMware Tools 10.2.0 installed on the virtual machine.

  • VMware Fusion does not automatically detect the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (Version 1709) ISO when creating a new Windows 10 Fall Creators Update virtual machine

You have to manually select Window 10/ Windows 10 x64 when creating Windows 10 Fall Creators Update guest operating system.

    This issue is resolved.

  • In a Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (Version 1709) virtual machine, using Microsoft Office to save modified files to a VMware shared folder can fail

When you run a Windows 10 Fall Creators Update(Version 1709) virtual machine, using Microsoft Office to edit and save files to a VMware shared folder results in following error:

"There has been a network or file permission error. The network connection may be lost"

This can occur even when the network connection remains available and the drive is accessible.

    This issue is resolved.

  • After a Windows 10 virtual machine switches to Unity view, a gray border appears around the guest window

When a Windows 10 virtual machine runs in Unity view, a gray border appears around the guest windows.

In a Windows 7 virtual machine running in full screen mode on multiple displays, after you log out and back in, the mouse cursor might not position properly inside the virtual machine. When you click the right mouse button, the popup menu does not appear at the location expected, which is at the cursor. This issue only occurs in Windows 7 virtual machines.

    This issue is resolved.

Known Issues

  • On a Skylake or Kaby Lake Mac machine with High Sierra 10.13 installed, Windows 10 virtual machines display glitches when the display resolution is greater than 4096 pixels

On a Skylake or Kaby Lake Mac machine released in 2016 or 2017, if the host is installed with macOS High Sierra 10.13 and is using an Intel graphics card, the display of a running Windows 10 virtual machine starts to function improperly when the display resolution exceeds 4096 pixels. This issue does not occur when any of the following conditions apply to the Mac machine.

    • Uses a non-Intel graphics card
    • Is installed with a macOS version prior to macOS High Sierra 10.13
    • Is not a Skylake or Kaby Lake model
