Activate or Deactivate Mac Host Shortcuts on the Keyboard and Mouse Preference Pane

By default in Fusion, global keyboard shortcuts that the Mac operating system or third-party applications have registered are sent to the Mac operating system instead of your virtual machine.

Examples of global Mac keyboard shortcuts include Command-Tab (switch applications) and F9, F10, and F11 (Exposé commands). You set these shortcuts and commands in the macOS System Preferences.

You can use the Mac Host Shortcuts pane to deactivate all these shortcuts while you use Fusion. This action applies only to Single Window view and Full Screen view. In Unity view, all macOS shortcuts are always enabled.

Procedure

1. Select VMware Fusion > Preferences and click Keyboard & Mouse.
2. To go to the Mac Host Shortcuts pane, click Mac Host Shortcuts .
3. To activate or deactivate all shortcuts, select or deselect the Enable Mac OS Host Keyboard Shortcuts check box.
4. To customize how the virtual machine maps the Mac Command key () to the Windows command key, select the option from the drop-down menu.

   Option	Description
   Either Command Key	Use either Mac Command key to map to the Windows command key.
   Left Command Key	Use the left Mac Command key to map to the Windows command key.
   Right Command Key	Use the right Mac Command key to map to the Windows command key.

Results

The macOS commands are not editable here. You must change them in the macOS System Preferences.
