Installing VMware GemFire from an OVA

This topic explains how to install VMware GemFire from an OVA

Use the compressed TAR file distribution to install and configure VMware GemFire on every physical and virtual machine where you will run VMware GemFire.

Prerequisites

Before you install VMware GemFire, you must complete the following prerequisites:

• Before downloading, ensure you meet the requirements, for more information, see the Download Broadcom products and software article.
• Confirm that your system meets the hardware and software requirements described in Supported Configurations and System Requirements.
• Know how to configure environment variables for your system. If you have not done so already, set the JAVA_HOME environment variable to point to a Java runtime installation supported by GemFire. (You should find a bin directory under JAVA_HOME.)
• Review the guidelines for running and performance tuning GemFire on vSphere.

Installing

1. Log in to Broadcom Customer Support Portal with your customer credentials.
2. Go to the VMware Tanzu GemFire downloads page. Select VMware Tanzu GemFire, click Show All Releases, and select a version.
3. Click I agree to Terms and Conditions. Click the HTTPS Download icon next to VMware GemFire for vSphere.
4. To deploy the downloaded OVA, follow the instructions in Deploy an OVF or OVA Template in the VMware vSphere product documentation. The default username is gemfire and the default password is gemfire. The administrator is responsible for resetting this password after deployment and configuration of networking, firewall, and disk configuration.
