You can redirect biometric devices, specifically fingerprint scanners, that are plugged into a USB port on a Windows client system to virtual desktops, published desktops, and published applications by using the device bridge feature.

To enable fingerprint scanners, you must obtain the Smartchip Biometric Authentication System (BAS) third party software, then install the Device Bridge BAS Plugin, which is a custom setup option in the Horizon Agent installer.

These fingerprint scanning devices are supported:

You can configure group policy settings to change the default configuration. Use the VMware View Agent Configuration ADMX template file (vdm_agent.admx) group policy setting to enable or disable the Device Bridge BAS Plugin. See Device Bridge BAS Plugin Policy Settings.

The Device Bridge BAS Plugin logs provide finger scanner redirection details for troubleshooting failed redirection.
