If more than one webcam or microphone is connected to the client computer, and the remote desktop supports multiple device redirection with the Real-Time Audio-Video feature, you can use all the webcams and microphones connected to the client computer in the remote desktop. If a default microphone is configured on the client computer, it is reflected on the remote desktop.
For administrators - this feature is supported only with virtual desktops that have Horizon Agent 7.10 or later installed. It is not supported with published desktops or published applications. For complete system requirements, see System Requirements for Real-Time Audio-Video.
For end users - whether you can use more than one webcam or microphone with the Real-Time Audio-Video feature depends on how a Horizon administrator has configured the remote desktop.
Following are tips for using more than one webcam or microphone with the Real-Time Audio-Video feature.
- When you connect to a remote desktop, the Real-Time Audio-Video feature redirects all webcams currently connected to the client computer. The remote desktop decides which webcam is the default device. You do not need to configure a preferred webcam in Horizon Client.
- If a default microphone is configured on the client computer, it is reflected on the remote desktop.
- If you want to use the same microphone by default in applications such as Skype for Business, you must configure a default microphone. Otherwise, all microphones are redirected and you must select a microphone each time you use the application. For more information, see Select a Default or Preferred Real-Time Audio-Video Device on the Mac Client.
- If you disconnect a webcam or microphone from the client computer, and the device is not being used in an application in the remote desktop, the Real-Time Audio-Video feature deletes the device in the remote desktop immediately. If the device is being used by an application in the remote desktop, the Real-Time Audio-Video feature deletes the device after the application releases it.
- The display name of a redirected device is the actual device name, but with (VDI) appended, for example, C670i FHD Webcam (VDI).
- You can use multiple redirected devices simultaneously in a remote desktop.
