If more than one webcam or microphone is connected to the client computer, and the remote desktop supports multiple device redirection with the Real-Time Audio-Video feature, you can use all the webcams and microphones connected to the client computer in the remote desktop. If a default microphone is configured on the client computer, it is reflected on the remote desktop.
For administrators - this feature is supported with virtual desktops that have Horizon Agent 7.10 or later installed. It is supported with published desktops and published applications when Windows client 2209 or later is connected to Horizon Agent 2209 or later. For complete system requirements, see System Requirements for Real-Time Audio-Video.
For end users - whether you can use more than one webcam or microphone with the Real-Time Audio-Video feature depends on how a Horizon administrator has configured the remote desktop and how you have configured the options.
Following are tips for using more than one webcam or microphone with the Real-Time Audio-Video feature.
- When you connect to a remote desktop, the Real-Time Audio-Video feature redirects all webcams currently connected to the client computer.
- If a default microphone is configured on the client computer, it is reflected on the remote desktop.
- If you disconnect a webcam or microphone from the client computer, the Real-Time Audio-Video feature deletes the device in the remote desktop immediately.
- If the Windows client is connected to Horizon Agent version 2209 or later, the display name of a redirected devices matches the device name. For virtual desktops with Horizon Agent version 2206 or earlier, the display name of a redirected device is the actual device name with (VDI) appended. For example, C670i FHD Webcam (VDI). For RDSH desktops and published application with Horizon Agent version 2206 or earlier, the display name of the redirect devices are "VMware Virtual Webcam" and "Remote Audio Device".
- You can use multiple redirected devices simultaneously in a remote desktop.
- If the Windows client is connected to Horizon Agent version 2209 or later, the redirected webcam on the agent side reflects the same supported resolutions as the webcam device, not just one default resolution. Multiple resolutions are supported. The application on the agent side determines the webcam resolution.
