Install the URL Content Redirection Helper Extension for Edge on Windows

To use the Edge browser with the URL Content Redirection feature on a Windows client or Windows agent machine, you must install the VMware Horizon URL Content Redirection Helper extension in the Edge browser.

You install the VMware Horizon URL Content Redirection Helper extension from the Chrome Web Store.

Prerequisites

• Install the Edge browser on the Windows client system. For supported versions, see System Requirements for URL Content Redirection.
• On the Windows client machine, install Horizon Client for Windows and enable the URL Content Redirection feature. See Installing Horizon Client for Windows with the URL Content Redirection Feature.
• On the Windows agent machine, install Horizon Agent and enable the URL Content Redirection feature. See Installing Horizon Agent with the URL Content Redirection Feature.

Procedure

1. In the Edge browser, enter https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/vmware-horizon-url-conten/lfidjngibpklhhijphdmbmedchiiolgk.
2. Click the Add extensions from other stores button at the top of the browser window and click Allow.
3. Click Add to Chrome.
4. When you are prompted to add the extension to Microsoft Edge, click Add extension.
5. To verify that the extension is installed, click the Settings and more (… icon) in the upper-right corner of the browser window and select Extensions.
   VMware Horizon URL Content Redirection Helper appears in the Installed extensions list.

What to do next

The first time a URL is redirected from the Edge browser on the client, the user is prompted to open the URL in Horizon Client. The user must click Open URL:VMware Hori...lient Protocol, or URL redirection does not occur.
