Use the Enable Host Redirection setting to set the load balancer name and enable HTTP host redirection capability.
When an HTTP request from a load balancer host reaches the Connection Server, the Connection Server responds with an external HTTP redirection URL. For subsequent requests, the Horizon Client directly connects to the Connection Server using the external URL, thereby minimizing misroutes that might occur at the load balancer.
Note the following:
- You can enter multiple load balancer host names.
- Load balancer host names are also used in Origin Checking. For more information, see https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/85801.
- Unified Access Gateway (UAG) has a feature that rewrites the origin header coming from the client to match the URL it is using to forward requests to the connection server. For more information, see "Configure Horizon Settings" in the Deploying and Configuring VMware Unified Access Gateway document on the Unified Access Gateway Documentation site.
Important: You must restart the server is to ensure that the load balancer hostname values take effect. If an existing connection server already has
balancedHost
set in
locked.properties
, that setting takes precedence when you are on the new version of Horizon 8.
Procedure
- In Horizon Console, select .
- On the Connection Servers tab, select a Connection Server instance and click Edit.
- On the General tab, select the Enable Host Redirection check box.
- Enter the load balancer name in the text box and click the plus sign ("+") to the right of the text box to add the host.
Results
The host name you entered appears below the text box. You can remove it by clicking the "x" next to the name.
