The upgrade procedure requires a temporary number of IP addresses in addition to your existing IP address configuration. vSphere provides a tool that enables you to add this required IP range.

About this task

You can use this procedure to add IP addresses for any reason. If you are not adding IP addresses as part of the upgrade procedure, the specific number of IP addresses required might not apply.

Procedure

  1. In the vSphere Web Client, select Home > Inventories, and click the VMware Integrated OpenStack icon.
  2. Click the Manage tab and click the Networks tab.

The Networks tab lists the Management and API network configurations, including their IP address ranges.

  3. Expand the IP addresses available for the Management network.
    1. Right-click the name of the Management network in the list and select Add IP Range.
    2. In the Add IP Range dialog box, specify the new IP range.
      Note:

If you are adding addresses as part of the upgrade process, the new IP range must match the same number of IP addresses configured for the existing Management network. For example, in a typical VMware Integrated OpenStack deployment, the Management network requires a minimum range of 11 IP addresses.

    3. Click OK.
  4. Expand the IP addresses available for the external network.
    1. Right-click the name of the API network in the list and select Add IP Range.
    2. In the Add IP Range dialog box, specify the new IP range.
      Note:

If you are adding addresses as part of the upgrade process, the new IP range must match the same number of IP addresses configured for the existing API network. For example, in a typical VMware Integrated OpenStack deployment, the API network requires a minimum range of 2 IP addresses for versions 3.0 and older and a minimum range of 3 IP addresses for versions 3.1 and later.

    3. Click OK.

What to do next

If you added IP addresses as part of the upgrade process, you can now obtain and install the upgrade patch.
