Creating an external service integrates the service with VMware Lab Platform. Once you do so, you can import content from the external service.


  1. To open the External Services list, from the navigation panel, click Content > External Services.
  2. To open the Add New External Service form, click Create.
  3. Enter the following information in the Add New External Service form.
    Option Description


    Enter your organization’s ScreenSteps URL. For example,


    Enter your ScreenSteps username.


    Enter your ScreenSteps password.


    Select a language for the instructional content from the drop-down menu.

    Treat SVG file attachments as images

    To add SVG files as image files in ScreenSteps, select the Treat SVG file attachments as images option.

    Add Chapter Table of Contents

    To add a manual’s table of contents including chapter titles (modules) followed by the articles contained by each chapter, enable the Add Chapter Table of Contents option.

    Add Conclusion Page

    To add a conclusion page at the end of the manual, enable the Add Conclusion Page.

  4. To add the external service you just created to the External Services List, click Create.


The external service is listed on the Content > External Services page. To edit, delete, or open the external services web link, see Working with the External Services List.
