You can edit a deployment pool from the Deployment Pool page.

To perform an action on all deployment pools, use the Batch Action menu on the Deployment Pool page. The menu includes the Apply Tags, Remove Tags, and Clear Errors options. When a prepopulated lab template fails to deploy, VMware Lab Platform marks it as an error and shows the count of errors. The Clear Errors option clears all errors for all the deployment pools listed, and drops the current count of errors to zero.

Procedure

  1. To open the Deployment Pool page, click Cloud Management > Deployment Pools.
  2. To edit a deployment pool, click the vertical dots next to the deployment pool. A drop-down menu opens with the following action options:

    Update

    Opens a three-tab editing form. The Edit Deployment Pool tab is current.

    Edit Lab Templates

    Opens a three-tab editing form. The Edit Lab Templates tab is the current tab and described in the Editing Lab Templates section.

    Edit VMs

    Opens the Edit VMs section.

    Delete

    Deletes the deployment pool.

    Refill At

    Value for the least number of available prepopulated lab templates. If the number of available prepopulated lab template goes less than the Refill At value, then the system deploys the prepopulated lab template (refills) until the refill value is met.

    Fill Up

    Value to equal (fill up), amount of prepopulated lab template that must be deployed.

    Drain Prepops

    Removes all deployed prepopulated lab template and drops the number of deployed prepopulated lab templates to zero.

    Sync Prepops

    Sends a start request for all the prepopulated lab templates currently deployed. The start request does nothing if a prepopulated lab template exists. It creates a prepopulated lab template if one does not exist.

    Note:

    Use this option only if you suspect there are prepopulated lab template in an invalid state.

    Remove Lab Templates

    Removes lab templates from the deployment pool.

    Remove Obsolete VMs

    Removes obsolete VMs.

    Apply Tags

    Applies tags to deployment pool.

    Remove Tags

    Removes tags from a deployment pool.

    Clear Errors

    When a prepopulated lab template fails to deploy, VMware Lab Platform marks it as an error and shows the count of errors. Clearing the errors marks the database record for the error as cleared and drops the current count of errors to zero.

    Opens the View Deployment Pool page, which displays details about the selected pool including the following:

    • Refill At: Value for the least number of available prepopulated lab templates. If the number of available prepopulated lab templates goes less than the Refill At value, then the system deploys prepopulated lab templates (refills) until the Refill At value is met.

    • Fill Up: Value to equal (fill up) - amount of prepopulated lab templates that must be deployed.

    • Available: Number of prepopulated lab templates ready to use for taking a lab.

    • Provisioning: Refers to the number of lab templates being booted up but not yet ready to use for taking a lab.

    • Error Count: Number of prepopulated lab templates that failed to deploy.

    • Hit: Number of times users got prepopulated lab templates when requested.

    • Miss: Number of times users got a full deployment of a lab and had to wait.

    • Labs: List of labs included in the deployment pool.

    • VMs: List of virtual machines included in the deployment pool.

    • Lab Templates: List of lab templates included in the deployment.
