If you no longer want to use an SDDC for recovery, you can detach the recovery SDDC from VMware Live Cyber Recovery.

Detaching a recovery SDDC removes it from VMware Live Cyber Recovery, but the SDDC remains available for use on VMware Cloud on AWS. As long as it is not deleted, you can reattach it at a future date.

If the SDDC is included in a recovery plan, all plan compliance checks related to the detached recovery SDDC are skipped. The plan compliance check will be healthy, but the plan cannot be run until a new recovery SDDC is created or attached, and then configured in the plan.

If the recovery SDDC has any VMs running live on the cloud file system, either delete or fail back those VMs before detaching the SDDC.
Note: If the recovery SDDC was attached before the VMware Live Cyber Recovery February 2024 release, contact Broadcom support for help detaching a pre-existing recovery SDDC.

Procedure

  1. From the left navigation, select Recovery SDDCs.
  2. From the small menu next to the Open vCenter button, click Detach recovery SDDC .
  3. In the dialog box, enter the phrase DETACH SDDC in all upper case letters to confirm and then click OK.
If the SDDC fails to detach for any reason, click the Retry Detach button.
