To help identify the cause of any problems you encounter during the day-to-day running of VMware Live Site Recovery, you might need to collect VMware Live Site Recovery log files to review or send to VMware Support.

VMware Live Site Recovery creates several log files that contain information that can help VMware Support diagnose problems. You can use the VMware Live Site Recovery log collector to simplify log file collection.

The VMware Live Site Recovery Server and client use different log files.

The VMware Live Site Recovery Server log files contain information about the server configuration and messages related to server operations. The VMware Live Site Recovery Server log bundle also contains system information and history reports of the latest recovery plan executions.

The VMware Live Site Recovery client log files contain information about the client configuration and messages related to client plug-in operations. The VMware Live Site Recovery bundle also includes installer log files and the contents of the storage replication adapters (SRA) subdirectory of the log directory.

Log files from vCenter Server instances and ESXi Server instances that are part of your VMware Live Site Recovery system might also include information useful for diagnosing VMware Live Site Recovery problems.

The VMware Live Site Recovery log file collects or retrieves the files and compresses them in a zipped file that is placed in a location that you choose.

Errors that you encounter during VMware Live Site Recovery operations appear in error dialog boxes or appear in the Recent Tasks window. Most errors also generate an entry in a VMware Live Site Recovery log file. Check the recent tasks and log files for the recovery site and the protected site.
