The VMware Live Site Recovery provides information about how to install and configure VMware Site Recovery Manager and VMware vSphere Replication on your on-premises sites, and how to activate and use VMware Live Site Recovery.

Important: With the release of VMware Live Recovery, VMware Site Recovery Manager is rebranded to VMware Live Site Recovery. The rebranding is an ongoing effort and certain parts of the user interface might still use the old Site Recovery branding.

VMware Live Site Recovery is an extension to VMware vCenter Server that delivers a business continuity and disaster recovery solution that helps you plan, test, and run the recovery of vCenter Server virtual machines. You can replicate virtual machines by using array-based replication, vSphere Replication, Virtual Volumes replication, or a combination of all three types. VMware Live Site Recovery can discover and manage replicated datastores, and automate migration of inventory from one vCenter Server instance to another.

Intended Audience

This book is intended for VMware Live Site Recovery administrators who are familiar with vSphere and its replication technologies, such as host-based replication and replicated datastores. This solution serves the needs of administrators who want to configure protection for their vSphere inventory. It might also be appropriate for users who need to add virtual machines to a protected inventory or to verify that an existing inventory is properly configured for use with VMware Live Site Recovery.
