What's New September 15, 2023

VMware is pleased to announce VMware NSX+ Intelligence and VMware NSX+ NDR services for Initial Availability.

VMware NSX+ is a fully managed cloud-based service offering that allows networking, security and operations teams to consume and operate VMware NSX services from a single cloud console across private and public clouds. As part of the initial availability of the service, the following services are available:

  • NSX+ Intelligence: Provides a big data reservoir and an analytics system for network and security analytics for real-time traffic visibility into applications traffic all the way from basic traffic metrics to deep inspection of packets.

  • NSX+ NDR: Provides a scalable threat detection and response service offering for SoC teams to triage real time security threats to their datacenter and cloud.

NSX+ Intelligence

  • Ability to provide real time traffic visibility across multiple cloud workloads.

  • Ability to provide operational and querying capabilities across multiple cloud workloads.

  • Ability to provide you with firewall rule recommendations.

NSX+ Network Detection and Response

  • Enables threat triage and investigation by providing a unified detection event list across all event types and sites; detection events are classified according to the MITRE ATT&CK framework.

  • Improves threat investigation efficiency by correlating closely related threat events within/across site(s) into intrusion campaigns.

  • Provides the ability to export/log all security events and campaigns to a SIEM.

VMware is pleased to announce VMware NSX+ service for initial availability.

VMware NSX+ is a fully managed cloud-based service offering that allows networking, security, and operations teams to consume and operate VMware NSX services from a single cloud console across private and public clouds.

The following services are available:

  • NSX+ Policy Management: Provides unified networking and security policy management across multiple clouds and on-premises data centers.

  • NSX+ Intelligence (Tech Preview only): Provides  a big data reservoir and a system for network and security analytics for real-time traffic visibility into applications traffic all the way from basic traffic metrics to deep inspection of packets.

  • NSX+ NDR (Tech Preview only): Provides a scalable threat detection and response service offering for Security Operations Center (SoC) teams to triage real time security threats to their data center and cloud.

NSX+ services enable you to:

  • Transition to subscription-based consumption for VMware NSX

    • Cloud-based keyless activation: Purchase VMware NSX+ through flexible subscription options and activate from the cloud. Eliminate license key management through keyless entitlement.

  • Centrally operate your VMware NSX deployments across multiple private clouds

    • Multi-cloud support: Securely connect multiple on-premises NSX Managers to VMware NSX+ in the cloud through the VMware Cloud Gateway. Supports minimum version of NSX 4.1.1 and above.

    • Multi-cloud infrastructure monitoring for NSX: View multiple on-premises NSX Managers, NSX Edges, and NSX Transport Nodes through a single pane of glass from the cloud.

    • Multi-cloud upgrade recommendations for NSX: Simplifies upgrade with notification on new NSX release availability and automates download and staging of NSX upgrade bundles to multiple on-premises NSX Managers.

    • Search across multiple on-premises NSX: Search for network and security configuration across multiple on-premises NSX from a single pane of glass.

  • Securely connect and access VMware NSX+ through VMware Cloud Services

    • Hosting Region Support: NSX+ is hosted in US-West-2 (Oregon).

    • Authentication and Authorization: Supports six built-in roles configurable from VMware Cloud Services: NSX+ Org Admin, NSX+ Org Audit, NSX+ Network Admin, NSX+ Network Operator, NSX+ Security Admin, and NSX+ Security Operator.

    • Privacy and Compliance Certifications: VMware NSX+ participates at CSA STAR Level 1 and has completed the Consensus Assessments Initiative Questionnaire (CAIQ) to document compliance with the Cloud Controls Matrix (CCM). What's New in NSX+ Policy Management

  • Provides unified networking and security policy management for your virtual machines and physical servers across on-premises data centers, private clouds, co-locations, and large branches.

  • Set up networking and deploy distributed security controls using a policy management UI and API.

  • Define Projects (tenants) spanning one or multiple sites and assign various roles and users per tenant basis.

  • Provides the NSX VPC (virtual private cloud), the fundamental multi-cloud operational unit, that can be defined across on-premises datacenters and cloud.
