To convert a single-node NSX Advanced Load Balancer Controller deployment into a 3-node deployment, follow the steps below:

In this procedure, the NSX Advanced Load Balancer Controller node that is already deployed in the singe-node deployment is referred to as the incumbentNSX Advanced Load Balancer Controller.

  1. Install a single new NSX Advanced Load Balancer Controller node. During installation, configure only the following settings for each node:

    • Node Management IP Address

    • Gateway IP Address

  2. Connect the management interface of each new NSX Advanced Load Balancer Controller node to the same network as the incumbent NSX Advanced Load Balancer Controller. After the incumbent NSX Advanced Load Balancer Controller detects the 2 new NSX Advanced Load Balancer Controller nodes, the incumbent NSX Advanced Load Balancer Controller becomes the primary (leader) NSX Advanced Load Balancer Controller node for the 3-node cluster.

  3. Use a web browser to navigate to the management IP address of the primary (leader) NSX Advanced Load Balancer Controller node.

  4. Navigate to Administrator > Controller, and click Edit . The Edit Controller Configuration popup appears.

  5. In the Controller Cluster IP field, enter the shared IP address for the Controller cluster.

  6. In the Hostname/IP fields, enter the management IP address of the new NSX Advanced Load Balancer Controller node.

Note:

To configure cluster in AWS Cloud, each node of the cluster requires an admin account password.

After execution of the above steps, the incumbent NSX Advanced Load Balancer Controller becomes the primary (leader) for the cluster and invites the other NSX Advanced Load Balancer Controller to the cluster as members.

The NSX Advanced Load Balancer must perform a warm reboot of the cluster which takes around 3 minutes. After reboot, the configuration of the Primary (leader) Controller is synchronized to the new member nodes once the cluster appears online.
