Once all the features and configurations specific to the Enterprise edition are removed, the NSX Advanced Load Balancer can be switched to the desired licensing tier.

You can change the licensing tier from the Enterprise edition to the Essential edition as follows.

  1. Navigate to Administration > Licensing.

  2. Click gear icon next to Licensing.

  3. Select Essentials License.

  4. Click Save.

After changing the licensing tier to the essentials edition, SEs do not require any licenses. The Enterprise Service Units are freed up and are no more used when NSX Advanced Load Balancer Controller runs in the essentials edition. The Controller will start enforcing essentials edition feature restrictions.

The new System-Default objects are created according to the NSX Advanced Load Balancer Essentials for Tanzu edition support.
