You can upgrade the Service Engine for any x-86 server or host operating system running the Controller. These updates can be hardware maintenance, host OS upgrade, updating security patches or kernel updates.

The following are the steps to perform server/ host operating system upgrade:

  1. Deactivate specific SE from Infrastructure > Service Engine > Select SE > Disable.

  2. Login to the host where maintenance is being performed.

    1. Execute Systemct1 stop avise

    2. Execute Systemct1 stop docker

  3. Perform host maintenance.

  4. Start docker and NSX Advanced Load Balancer services by executing the following:

    1. Systemct1 start docker

    2. Systemct1 start avise

    3. Enable same SE from Infrastructure > Service Engine > Select SE > Enable.
