This section describes the IP address allocation and the steps to configure IP address pools.

Network objects in the NSX Advanced Load Balancer govern IP address allocation for the following:

  • Load balancers, known as NSX Advanced Load Balancer SEs

  • Virtual IPs (VIPs) for the load-balanced applications (Optional)

Note:
  • NSX Advanced Load Balancer SE will acquire IP addresses for its management network (used to communicate with the NSX Advanced Load Balancer Controller) and its data networks (used for data plane/ load balancing) from these Network objects.

  • Each Cloud configured on the NSX Advanced Load Balancer can have multiple Network objects defined, each for the various networks used to provide load balancing.

  • Network objects support both IPv6 and IPv4 addresses.

  • Network objects are not used for native public-cloud integrations such as AWS, Azure, and GCP. These are handled from within the Cloud object on the NSX Advanced Load Balancer.

IP address allocation in the Network object can be either through DHCP or Static IP Pools. If IP address allocation is through static pools, you need to configure these static IP pools.
