Check for additions and updates to these release notes.

What's New

VMware NSX Data Center for vSphere 6.4.14 fixes a number of customer bugs and addresses a security vulnerability documented in VMSA-2022-0027. Updated XStream to version 1.4.19 to resolve CVE-2021-39144.

  • This security vulnerability impacts NSX for vSphere in both VCF and non-VCF environments.

  • The security fix applies to the NSX Manager only, however an upgrade to 6.4.14 involves a full upgrade, as the release contains other component fixes.

See the NSX Data Center for vSphere 6.4.13 Release Notes for upgrade and installation details and current known issues.

Resolved Issues

  • Fixed Issue 2989776: VMkernel logs filled up by, “Cannot add Arp VMI, reached max limit of 1.”

Due to duplicate MAC issue, VMware ESXi log file (/var/log/vmkernel.log) is rapidly filled up by excessive messages indicating max ARP limit had been reached.  Resolution: NSX for vSphere 6.4.14 has reduced the default log level for this message from Error to Debug.

  • Fixed Issue 3003814: NSX Manager unresponsive until reboot.

    Unavailability of NSX Manager.

  • Fixed Issue 3020991: Multiple ESX hosts PSOD with large number of pending ARP entries across DRs.

When workloads generate larger number of TCP/UDP traffic for non-existent IPs (typically by a scanner tool), DRs initiate ARPs to those IPs. DRs couldn't complete processing these large ARPs resulting in ESX watchdog process to PSOD the host.
