VMware NSX Migration for VMware Cloud Director Documentation

This user guide provides information to migrate a service provider driven, organization Virtual Data Center (VDC) from a VMware NSX® Data Center for vSphere® (NSX-V) backed provider VDC to an organization VDC of NSX-T™ Data Center backed provider VDC in a VMware Cloud Director™ environment.

The VMware NSX® Migration for VMware Cloud Director™ tool is an external automation tool to initiate and complete the migration process with minimum downtime. The NSX Migration for VMware Cloud Director tool migrates the workload VMs and other organization VDC objects to the same or a different vCenter Server managed by the same VMware Cloud Director instance.

The NSX Migration for VMware Cloud Director tool is not a part of VMware Cloud Director installation, and it is executed externally.

Intended Audience

This guide is intended for VMware Cloud Director system administrators who want to migrate the NSX Data Center for vSphere organization VDC to the NSX-T Data Center organization VDC. The information in this guide requires knowledge of VMware Cloud Director, NSX Data Center for vSphere, and NSX-T Data Center.
