The NSX Policy Manager appliance must be upgraded post the NSX Manager upgrade.

Prerequisites

Verify that the NSX Manager is properly upgraded. See Upgrading NSX-T Data Center.

Procedure

  1. Open a command prompt on the NSX Manager with administrator privileges.
  2. Get the NSX Manager version.

    get version

  3. Open a command prompt on the NSX Policy Manager that you want to upgrade.
  4. Log in to the appliance with administrator privileges.
  5. Copy the URL.

    copy url http://<NSX_Manager_IP>:8080/repository/<NSX-T_Build>/Manager/nub/VMware-NSX-unified-appliance-<NSX_Unified_Appliance_Build>.nub

    Where <NSX-T_Build> is the target upgrade build and <NSX_Unified_Appliance_Build> is the NSX Manager version.

  6. Verify the upgrade bundle. Note:

    verify upgrade_bundle <BUNDLE_NAME>

    Press the tab after upgrade_bundle and the <BUNDLE_NAME> is populated.

  7. Upgrade the NSX Policy Manager appliance.

    start upgrade-bundle <BUNDLE_NAME> playbook <PLAYBOOK_NAME>

    Press the tab after upgrade_bundle and the <BUNDLE_NAME> is populated. Press the tab after playbook and the <PLAYBOOK_NAME> is populated.

    After the upgrade is complete, the NSX Policy Manager appliance restarts.

  8. Open a command prompt on the newly upgraded NSX Policy Manager appliance.
  9. Log in to the appliance with administrator privileges to verify that the upgrade was successful.
