DHCP Configuration Settings: Reference Use this reference documentation to understand the various considerations that you must keep in mind while configuring the DHCP service and to obtain a detailed guidance about the configuration settings on the Set DHCP Config page.
Configure Local DHCP Server on a Segment A Local DHCP server provides a dynamic IP assignment service only to the VMs that are attached to the segment. NSX-T Data Center supports Local DHCP server configuration on the downlink interface and the service interface. You can configure a Local DHCPv4 server, or a Local DHCPv6 server, or both, on the segment.
Configure Gateway DHCP Server on a Segment A Gateway DHCP server is attached to a tier-0 or tier-1 gateway, and it provides DHCP service to the networks (overlay segments), which are directly connected to the gateway and configured to use a Gateway DHCP server.
Configure DHCP Relay on a Segment In a DHCP Relay configuration, the DHCP messages are forwarded to the external DHCP servers. The external DHCP servers can be in any subnet, outside the SDDC, or in the physical network.
Configure DHCP Static Bindings on a Segment You can configure static bindings on both DHCP for IPv4 and DHCP for IPv6 servers.
