You can enable the Controller Disconnected Operation (CDO) mode for each host cluster through transport zone. CDO mode is disabled by default.

  • Verify that all prepared hosts in the system are upgraded to NSX 6.3.2 or later.

  1. Log in to the vSphere Web Client.
  2. Click Networking & Security > Logical Network Preparation, and then click Transport Zones.
  3. Select the required transport zone, and click the Actions icon. You can also right-click the transport zone.
  4. Click Enable CDO mode.

    A confirmation dialog box appears.

If you receive an error message in a Cross-vCenter NSX environment, verify the following conditions:

    • Primary NSX Manager: You can enable CDO mode only on transport zones that do not share the same distributed virtual switch. If the universal transport zone and the local transport zones share the same distributed virtual switch, then CDO mode can be enabled only on the universal transport zone.

    • Secondary NSX Manager: CDO mode gets replicated on the universal transport zone for all secondary NSX Managers. You can enable CDO mode on local transport zones, if they do not share the same distributed virtual switch.

  5. Click Yes.

CDO mode is enabled for the selected transport zone.

The CDO Mode column displays the status as Enabled.

NSX Manager creates a CDO logical switch on the controller.
