The controllers must operate on disks with low latency. The cluster requires disk storage system for each node to have a peak write latency of less than 300 ms, and a mean write latency of less than 100 ms.


  1. Deploy NSX Controller on low-latency disks.
  2. Each controller should use its own disk storage server. Do not share same disk storage server between two controllers.


To further minimize disk issues causing controller timeouts, ensure the /var disk is not shared or virtualize, and that the disk is not full or almost full. In addition, ensure that NTP is configured correctly on all controllers and timestamp are synchronized in case log analysis is required.
