Preparing for the NSX Upgrade

To help ensure a successful NSX Data Center for vSphere upgrade, check the release notes for upgrade issues, prepare the infrastructure for the upgrade, and use the correct upgrade sequence.

• NSX Data Center for vSphere functionality is affected during upgrade:
  • See Operational Impacts of NSX Upgrades for information about the effect of each part of the upgrade.
  • As a best practice, quiesce all operations in the environment until all sections of the upgrade are finished.

Caution: Downgrades are not supported:

• Always back up NSX Manager before proceeding with an upgrade.
• After NSX Manager has been upgraded successfully, NSX cannot be downgraded.
