The upgrade sequence upgrades the Management Plane at the end. If required, you can continue to make configuration changes while the Management Plane upgrade is in progress.
Prerequisites
Verify that the NSX Edge cluster is upgraded successfully. See Upgrade NSX Edge Cluster.
NSX supports only an odd number of nodes in a cluster. A three-node cluster is the recommended configuration for fault tolerance. The upgrade process also includes taking a local backup of NSX Manager nodes that can be used to restore or rollback the system. Once all prechecks are complete, the system saves the configuration backup followed by local backup of all the nodes in the cluster. To check if the system saved the local backup, you can go to the root admin and check /image/backup/<unified_app_version>/cluster-node-backups. The rollback backup is also saved at /config_bak. If the local backup fails for any reason, the upgrade is stopped.Procedure
What to do next
- Check the cluster status and verify that the services have started from the NSX Manager user interface.
- Perform post-upgrade tasks or troubleshoot errors depending on the upgrade status. See Post-Upgrade Tasks or Troubleshooting Upgrade Failures.
