The diagram below depicts a high-level design of an example OT environment for ATMs. ATMs are in the millions globally and can appear in almost any location.
A shopping center, airport, and banks for ATM locations are shown here, as well as a data center and a VMware-hosted Client Orchestrator. The locations are mostly connected to the data center through the Internet, but there is one with both Internet and MPLS and another with MPLS only. Since the VMware SD-WAN Client software is designed to function on Windows and Linux operating systems (OS), it is the perfect candidate to connect ATMs to their financial systems.
Here below is an example of OT environment for ATMs.
The diagram below depicts a high-level design example OT environment for ICS. Shown are several locations: a factory, a data center, the public cloud, and a VMware-hosted Client Orchestrator. The locations are connected through the Internet or a private MPLS wide area network (WAN). Management and collection of data on the OT systems in the factory can be accomplished by introducing the VMware SD-WAN Client software on VMs as Client Connectors and directly on endpoints such as laptops, workstations, or servers. Since the VMware SD-WAN Client software integrates readily into existing infrastructure, it can fit into almost any environment to provide secure overlay access to critical resources.
