VMware Skyline™ is a proactive self-service support solution aligned with VMware Global Support Services. VMware Skyline automatically and securely collects, aggregates, and analyses product usage data to proactively identify potential issues, security vulnerabilities, impacts to usability, and configuration recommendations. Additionally, Skyline Log Assist assists VMware Technical Support Engineers to improve time-to-troubleshooting.

VMware Skyline enables richer, more informed interactions between customers and VMware without extensive time investments by Technical Support Engineers. These capabilities transform support operations from reactive, break/fix to a proactive, predictive, and prescriptive experience that produces an even greater return on your VMware support investment.

VMware Aria Operations for Logs (formerly vRealize Log Insight) Support

  • Skyline Collector now supports VMware Aria Operations for Logs (formerly vRealize Log Insight) 8.6 and later. Skyline Collector can communicate with VMware Aria Operations for Logs to collect product usage and telemetry information for VMware Aria Operations for Logs instances. You can access proactive Findings and Recommendations for the VMware Aria Operations for Logs instances in Skyline Advisor. Follow these steps to add VMware Aria Operations for Logs to the Skyline Collector:

    • In the Skyline Collector, click Configuration.

    • Under PRODUCTS, click vRealize Log Insight.

    • Click ADD vRealize Log Insight.

  • Added support for Log Assist.

Note: Skyline Collector 3.3 only supports local authentication for vRealize Log Insight.

  • Fixed information disclosure issue with regards to collector API.

Compatibility

The deployment of the Skyline Collector is supported on VMware products and solutions that are Generally Available and have not met their End of General Support date.

Skyline supports proactive support analytics for the products provided in the Interoperability matrix.

Resolved Issues

  • Fixed issue causing indefinite loading loop in UI.

  • Fixed issue causing endpoint configurations to be left behind while adding or removing a product.

  • Fixed issue causing log assist failure under certain conditions.

  • Fixed issue preventing NGINX log rotation.

  • Fixed issue allowing unauthenticated user to see the in-app navigation header.
