You must create an admin account to administrator , manage, and configure VMware Skyline Health Diagnostics for vSphere.


  • Verify that you have root credentials for the virtual machine where VMware Skyline Health Diagnostics for vSphere is installed.

  • Verify that you can access the virtual machine console.

  • If not run during the installation, start the user management utility by executing command shd-user in a terminal window.


  • Enter a password for the user shd-admin.

    The password must contain at least 8 characters, have characters from 2 classes of Group 1 and 1 from Group 2.

    • Valid Character Class Group 1: [a-z], [A-Z], [0-9]

    • Valid Character Class Group 2: [~!@#$%^&]

    For example,

    • Thi1sISV@lid

    • ThisIsVali$Too

    • ThisisnotVal1d


Admin password is set and account is created.

What to do next

After the shd-admin account is created, open a browser on your Workstation and go to https://IP_OR_HOSTNAME_OF_Photon_VM to access the UI services. The log in page is displayed.

You can log in using the credentials for shd-adminaccount.

Further user accounts can be created using User Management Section under Settings in the UI
