You may want to refresh client plug-in of a registered VMware vCenter Server instance from VMware Skyline Health Diagnostics. After updating configurations on VMware vCenter Server , VMware Skyline Health Diagnostics plug-in might not work.

As an operator, you might want to refresh the registered vSphere instance from VMware Skyline Health Diagnostics if its plug-in stop working post updating any critical information on VMware vCenter server.

Prerequisites

  1. VMware Skyline Health Diagnostics must be registered with VMware vCenter Server instance.

  2. You should have valid vSphere SSO admin credentials.

  3. You should have valid shd-admin credentials, with VMware Skyline Health Diagnostics. Only shd-admin user can refresh the VMware vCenter server.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the VMware Skyline Health Diagnostics UI using the supported browser.
  2. In the top-menu, click Settings > vSphere Plugin Registration .

    VSphere plug-in Management should be loaded.

  3. Select the VMware vCenter server and Click on the Refresh icon, it should open a form

  4. Enter the VMware vCenter Server Appliance SSO admin username in the User name.
  5. Enter the VMware vCenter Server Appliance SSO admin password in the Password.
  6. Click REFRESH. It validates the credential by performing a login to the given VMware vCenter Appliance Server and refreshes VMware Skyline Health Diagnostics plugin on the vCenter client.
    • If the plug-in refresh is successful, the pop-up closes and you see the SHD Extension registered on vCenter Server: xx.xx.xx.xx message.

    • If the error is observed while the registration of vCenter, the Refresh vSphere plug-in pop won't close and corresponding error message is displayed on its top.

  7. To use the VMware Skyline Health Diagnostics plugin from vSphere Client, login to vSphere Client UI using SSO Administrator credentials and Navigate to Menu > Skyline Health Diagnostics

Results

Refresh of vSphere with VMware Skyline Health Diagnostics is successful and the client plug-in of Skyline Health Diagnostics should be visible and working into vSphere client.
