Use case based check list helps you to select the open source packages and Smart Assurance components.
VMware Smart Assurance Components
Taking VeloCloud use case as an example, referring to the SD-WAN column following are the Mandatory (M) and Optional (O) components to be installed to monitor VeloCloud SD-WAN infrastructure:
- Global Domain Managers:
- IP ,ESM, SAM - Mandatory to monitor SD-WAN network
- MPLS Domain - Optional to monitor MPLS backbone
- NPM Domain Manager - Optional to monitor BGP/OSPF/EIGRP/ISIS services
- NCM - Optional to maintain configuration
- Data Collection (DCF):
- Velocloud collector - Mandatory to collect Velocloud infrastructure data for discovery and monitoring.
- Cloudify,Clearwater and vROPS collector - Not supported for VeloCloud Domain
- Analytics:
- K4M - KPI engine to configure and monitor key SD-WAN KPI's based on Velocloud infrastructure data collected by DCF.
- UI and Reporting:
- Global Console - Mandatory for Operation, Administration and Monitoring
- Notification UI - Optional add-on Notification UI web portal
- vROPS and MnR - Not supported in this release.
- Open Source Pre-requisites
- MongoDB - Mandatory packages for DCF configuration store
- KAFKA - Messaging between the components
- Elastic Search and Redis - Optional packages if Notification UI is installed
