Before installation

Perform the following task before installing the VMware Smart Assurance Adapter for Alcatel-Lucent 5620 SAM EMS.

• Determine the location of the VMware Smart Assurance Broker on page 20.

  The user performing the installation must be superuser (User ID 0) on UNIX platforms. The installation program will halt if the user does not have the appropriate privileges.

  Note:

  By default, generic commands are provided for a UNIX platform. When entering commands, please adjust for your local practice. For example,

  When entering a command in a UNIX environment, place “./” directly in front of the command (with no space between it and the command). For example:

  ./sm_edit alcatel-sam/emsConfig.import
