The sm_service is a cross-platform utility that sets up the environment for standard applications (for example, the Broker, Domain Managers, and adapters), and that installs those applications as services.
Additionally, the sm_service utility can start applications.

UNIX includes two separate programs: sm_serviced, a long-running, system-level program, and sm_service, a command-line tool that communicates user requests to sm_serviced.
The sm_service utility is installed with the software (one per system), and is used from the BASEDIR/smarts/bin directory. Select the BASEDIR/smarts with the latest version of software. The utility can only be used to control services on the local machine.
