Discovery of thresholds for temperature sensors using EntitySensor MIB

Temperature sensor thresholds can be set during discovery for devices that are certified in the IP Manager using EntitySensor MIB for Environment. To verify if threshold values are discovered from the MIB, you must enable MetaClass and verify the Instrumentation Class (TemperatureSensor_Fault_CiscoEntityFRU) of the specific temperature sensor object.

There are two possibilities for setting the threshold value of the temperature sensors:

• If the threshold values returned by the agent are greater than 0, discovery reads in the threshold values from the EntitySensor MIB and automatically sets the thresholds in the instrumentation object to the values from the agent.

• If the device agent does not return a positive value for the threshold reading, then the threshold value falls back to the default setting defined in either the TemperatureSensor group or in the System Resource group.
