If no IP tagging is in effect and the Name Resolution probe finds an IP address that is already in the modeled topology, the probe responds as follows:
-
Discards the overlapping IP address
-
Removes the initially received overlapping IP address from the topology
-
Creates a DuplicateIP object
For a similar scenario in an IPv6 network, the Name Resolution probe will discard the overlapping IPv6 address, remove the initially received overlapping IPv6 address from the topology, and create a DuplicateIPv6 object.
